For the past 3 years, I have been reporting on Houston Corruption as an independent citizen journalist. I have over 100k followers throughout my social media accounts. I know the information I am sharing is important, and I work extremely hard to get the correct information to the public.
Unfortunately, the paying subscribers for my substack is only 172 people. With a large percentage taken by substack.
I am not one to ask for financial help, but if I cannot generate enough income to live off of through these subscriptions, I am being faced with a tough choice of whether to continue writing or pursue a different job where I can support myself financially. I just am blowing through my life savings when I quit my job after coming to the realization that Houston is under a controlled demolition by the Democrats, and that I needed to stand up against this evil, and the propaganda being spread through local newspapers and local news.
I have over 5000 people who read my substack articles, so I know the information I am giving to my readers is valued.
So, if you can support my work. I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, I will be having to make a tough decision of ceasing my substack.

I’m one one your paid subscribers and I’m happy to because I think the work you do brings value to the world.
That said if this is how you earn a living then you need to operate it like a business. Figured out what you need to live on annually and then figure out how many subscribers at $X per month you need in order to make that happen. Do some competitive research. What do other Substacks charge, etc? Write a business plan so you know what you need to do to have enough paid subscribers to make ends meet. Good luck!
Merissa, I'm proud to be one of your 172 paid subscribers. Even though I don't live in Houston, I do live in Austin and so many similarities exist here as in Houston as far as Democrat corruption and control. You do an excellent job of pursuing this corruption with dogged determination. Thank you for all you do.
You’re a brave warrior Merissa and we should all appreciate your hard work. On a different scale and in a different way, I’ve been trying to make a difference too. I’ve engaged local conservatives in the Katy area and we meetup monthly with 40-60 attendees. I’ve grown an email list to about 700 people. I’d love to have you come out some time and speak so I could help promote you.

I pay to subscribe to 4-5 other substacks. From what I've seen, the cost of annual subscriptions ranges from $50 at the low end to $80 and the high end. Yours is at the high end.
I understand what you're saying about having to make a living. Most of us are under the same pressures. My decision-making on paid subscriptions runs roughly, 5 at $50 per is $250/year. 5 at $80 is $400/year. If I can afford to actually spend $400, I can get 5 subscriptions at the higher price, or 8 at the lower price.
I just don't pay $80 for any substack. There was one I followed that was charging $80, and "for a limited time only" they dropped it to $50. I immediately subscribed.
I don't know how to estimate the sweet spot on pricing a substack (what price will generate you the max revenue?). It may be you would generate more income at a lower subscription rate.
I do value your content. I think what your do is important. I just can't afford to subscribe at $80, but for $50, I'll jump right on it.
I hate poor-mouthing. I'm not aiming to whine and complain. I'm just trying to give some candid, constructive feedback.
